Cookies and local storage

This site sets no cookies

Last updated 6 September 2026

That is the literal truth rather than a turn of phrase: there is no Set-Cookie header anywhere on this domain, no advertising pixel, no analytics script from anyone else, and no third-party code running on these pages at all. You can confirm it yourself in your browser's developer tools, under Application, then Cookies.

The site does store a small number of values in your browser's own storage, which is a different mechanism from cookies but is covered by the same law. Every one of them is listed below. Nothing in that list is shared with anybody, and nothing follows you to another website.

Everything this site stores in your browser

Browser storage used by the MDM ROI Navigator, with its purpose, lifetime and legal basis.
NameWhereWhat it is forHow long it lastsWhy we may store it
tco-analytics-sessionSession storageA random identifier for one visit, so that a person who abandons the calculator at step three counts as one visit rather than four unrelated events. It is not linked to your name, your email or any form you submit.Deleted the moment you close the tab.Audience measurement, exempt from consent
tco-analytics-opt-outLocal storageWritten only if you use the switch below. It records that you do not want to be measured, and it is the first thing the measurement code checks.Until you clear your browser data or switch measurement back on.Strictly necessary to honour your own choice
tco-themeLocal storageRemembers whether you chose the light or the dark version of the site, so it does not flash the wrong one on your next visit.Until you clear your browser data.Strictly necessary to honour a preference you set
mdm-navigator.localeLocal storageRemembers that you chose English, French or Spanish, so the site does not guess again next time.Until you clear your browser data.Strictly necessary to honour a preference you set
mdm-navigator.locale-redirectedLocal storageRecords that the site has already offered you a different language once, so it does not keep offering.Until you clear your browser data.Strictly necessary to honour a preference you set
sb-… (Supabase authentication)Local storageKeeps a signed-in Amaris team member logged in to the internal lead pages. It is only ever written if you log in, which members of the public cannot do and never need to.Until you sign out or the session expires.Strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for

Switch the measurement off

This decides it for this browser, immediately. Nothing more is recorded from the moment you switch it off, and the code checks your choice before it even loads the database client, so the visit does not appear in a network log either.

On — anonymous usage events are being recorded.

The preference lives in your browser, not in an account, so it applies to this browser only, and clearing your site data clears it too. Nothing you switch off here affects a form you have already submitted — to have that deleted, write to privacy@amaris.com.

What the usage measurement actually records

The measurement is ours alone. It writes one row into a database we run, and no other company receives it. There is no Google Analytics on this site, no Meta pixel, no LinkedIn Insight tag, no Hotjar, no session recording and no heatmap.

Each row can hold only these things:

  • which of eleven named events happened — a page view, a wizard step, a report export, a copied scenario link, and so on;
  • the path of the page it happened on, without the query string;
  • the per-tab identifier above;
  • a handful of non-identifying properties, in which fleet sizes and money figures are recorded only as broad bands such as "1000–9999 devices" or "250k–1M", never as your actual numbers.

It can never hold your name, your email address, your company, or anything you type into a text field. That is enforced in the code and again by a constraint in the database, not left to good intentions. Rows are kept for 14 months and then deleted.

Why there is no consent banner

Storing anything on your device normally needs your consent under Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act, which implements the ePrivacy Directive. There are two exemptions, and everything above falls into one of them.

The preferences — your theme, your language, your opt-out, your login — are strictly necessary: each one exists only to do something you asked for. Storage like that has never required consent, and asking would be theatre.

The usage measurement relies on the audience measurement exemption, on which the French regulator, the CNIL, published its current recommendations on 4 July 2025. The exemption applies where measurement is for the publisher alone, serves only that purpose, produces anonymous statistics, cannot follow a person across sites, is not combined with other data or passed to third parties, keeps identifiers for no more than 13 months and raw data for no more than 25, and is disclosed to visitors. Here, the purpose is a closed list of eleven product events, the data goes to nobody else, the identifier dies with your tab rather than lasting 13 months, retention is 14 months against a limit of 25, and this page is the disclosure.

So a banner would be asking you to consent to something that does not need your consent, on a site that sets no cookies at all. We would rather tell you exactly what happens and give you a real switch.

Two other things worth knowing

Your country, for the language guess. Loading the site asks Cloudflare, our host, which country the request came from, so a first-time visitor in France is offered the French version. The answer is a two-letter country code. It is used once, in your browser, to pick a language, and it is never stored or written to our database.

Ordinary server logs. Cloudflare keeps standard delivery logs, which include IP addresses, for the security and reliability of the service. That is Cloudflare acting as our hosting processor and is separate from the measurement described above.

How to clear everything

In any modern browser: open the site, then use the padlock or icon beside the address bar and choose the option to clear cookies and site data. Every value listed on this page is removed. Nothing breaks — the site simply goes back to its defaults and asks you nothing.

You can also block storage for this site entirely in your browser settings. The calculators keep working; the site just stops remembering your theme, your language and your opt-out between visits.
